In a world that it seems that we no longer live without an
email account and physical mail is obsolete let’s talk and see if these two
have any similarities.
For starters it is almost obvious that email is a derived
term of mail. But how exactly email works and why is that more and more people prefer
to use it over physical mail?
How email works?
1.The senders compose a digital letter.
2.When the email is sent this one is uploaded to the Simple
Mail Transfer protocol Server classified as outgoing mail.
3.The SMTP contact the Domain Name System server to look up
for the domain name and server IP of the recipient.
4.Once the SMTP know exactly where the letter needs to be delivered
it sends it to the target domain’s mail exchange server.
5.The Mail Transfer Agent decides where the mail should be
put.
6.Then the mail is received.
How email works doesn’t seem more different than how mail
works. The mail is sent to the post office where is sorted and classified
depending of where is going. Then is delivered to the recipient.
However, even though it seems that both work very similar electronic
email still is more convenient.
Why is electronic mail more convenient than physical mail?
1. The messages in an email are sent in real time and received
within seconds.
2. An email can be sent from anywhere from any device with
internet access.
3. One email can be sent to multiple recipients at the same
time.
4. To emails you can attach digital files like photos,
videos, and music.
The convenient and simplicity of how email works it makes is
clear why it is preferred over physical mail.
